Obama's Knowledge About Energy Is Equal To His Leadership Skills - Non-existent.
Enough Already (2012-04-05)
With gas prices at near record levels, Obama has suddenly become an energy expert. In a recent speech Obama said that the US accounts for 20% of world oil consumption while it has only 2% of world energy supplies. His conclusion: we must invest more in "clean" energy. We have no argument with the idea that the private sector should be able to invest in improving our energy supplies, but not the government. The Obama administration has repeatedly proven that government should stay out of picking energy investments.
The problem is that his facts are so wrong that his statement borders on being a blatant lie. Here is a quote from the Institute for Energy Research(IER): See this analysis.
"One massive potential American energy resources is known as oil shale. In fact, no other nation in the world is as rich in oil shale as the U.S. The largest deposits of American oil shale are located in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming. And though extraction poses some technical challenges, US oil shale in-place resources contain the energy equivalent of over 2 trillion barrels of oil.
To put this figure in perspective, the world has used 1 trillion barrels of oil since the first oil well was successfully drilled in Pennsylvania in 1859. As such, the United States's 2 trillion barrels of oil shale is a potentially huge new source of oil, and must be central to any discussion of our continental energy security. Shale and other new sources of oil, like oil sands currently being developed in Canada, offer important new North American energy supply options."
He is using a definition called "proven reserves", which is a number useful only to those who benefit from the idea of scarcity. Want proof? In 1944 proven oil reserves were 20 billion barrels, but between 1945 and 2010 the US produced 167 billion barrels of oil, 8 times the proven reserve!(also from the IER)
The White House is claiming credit for reduced dependence on foreign oil. Here is a quote form the white House website:
"Since President Obama took office, America's dependence on foreign oil has decreased every year. In 2010, the United States imported less than half of all oil consumed,a first in 13 years. In fact, net imports as a share of total consumption declined from 57 percent in 2008 to 45 percent in 2011, the lowest level in 16 years. In the last year alone, we have cut net oil imports by 10 percent, a million barrels per day."
This is like saying low economic growth and high unemployment is a good thing because it lowers demand for energy and lowers US oil imports! Maybe Biden will say something like "Because our failed economic policy, we are less dependent on foreign oil".
The White House is claiming credit for increased US oil production. This is correct, but all because of what Bush did, and has nothing to do with Obama. In fact, production on federal land (which Obama can control) is down and production on private and state owned land is up (which Obama has nothing to do with). Fact: production of all energy (OIL,GAS,COAL) is down over 12% since 2003 and down by over 9% since Obama took office. See this report Production of private and state land was up 11% in 2011.
And, do not forget that Obama blocked the Keystone pipeline, a large potential supply of oil, which means billions of dollars sent overseas and 1,000's of jobs lost.

Obama, Legacy Of A One-term President?
Enough Already (2012-04-04)
Obama's main qualification for President is his ability to read a great speech; little surprise that he spends all of his time talking, complaining and/or overtly protecting his pals. The consequences of his anti-business, pro-union policies are now clear:
This so-called 'Professor of constitutional law' has announced that the Supreme Court should not declare Obamacare unconstitutional because it would be socially 'wrong', while at the same time complaining about social activism in the courts. WHAT? Better yet, he says the Court should not be able to review laws passed by elected officials! It appears that he is not qualified to be constitutional law professor either.
There is some suspicion that his people 'leaked' top secret info about an Israeli plan to destroy Iran's bomb making facilities.
US debt is beyond comprehension (over $14 trillion) with more and more spend now and pay maybe programs;
the credit rating of the US has been lowered for the first time in history;
US poverty levels have increased every year for the past 3 years, and are now above levels in 1993;
Unemployment was above 9% every month for over two years (which helps explain the poverty data);
The Department of Justice is suing, or supporting suits against, States and business on all sides: border security, immigration law, health care, trying to prevent Boeing from expanding in a 'Right-to-Work' State, and even raiding a pro-Republican business on false grounds of illegally importing a certain wood (Gibson Guitar);
He has insulted Israel, America's strongest ally in the mid-East, while allowing Iran to move closer to developing atomic weapons, and, in the process, giving in to the Russians on missile defense - in return for absolutely nothing;
He has spent billions and billions of dollars in a failed attempt to stimulate the economy and now wants to do even more - note that the programs are aimed only at saving or creating union jobs;
One of his most visible attempts to direct private sector investment in 'green jobs' (with an over 500 million loan to a solar panel manufacturer) has failed - the company is bankrupt and taxpayer money is gone;
Loan guarantee of $1.5 billion to a company to increase production of solar energy which created 15 jobs;
Loan guarantee of about $500 million to an electric car manufacturer - in Finland - and guess who is a major investor in that company -- AL GORE, (democratic-ex-vice president).
Thousands of anti-business, anti-growth regulations have been imposed and more are on the way.
First President in history not to attend a Christmas service.
This is the story of a failed President, who should never, never be reelected.

Electric Cars. What cost? Who pays?
Enough Already (2012-03-13)
GM and the Obama Administration have pushed the Chevy Volt as an alternative to gas fueled cars. So what is the truth?
Buy or lease a Volt for 36 months and you get a $7,500 credit (and Obama wants to increase this to $10,000), funded by taxpayers. Running on electricity, the car will travel about the equivalent of one gallon of gas per charge, or about 1000 gallons of gas, saving about $3.80/gallon ($3,800 total). Subtract the $1,700 that it costs to charge the car and we have a savings of $2,100 over 36 months. We are spending $7,500 to save $2,100, a loss of $5,400/car to all of us. And, remember that the credit goes to the lease company, not the buyer! But there is more. You have to buy equipment to charge the thing, about $2,000, so total savings are only $100/car.
The good news is that GM has suspended production because people were not buying or leasing the car. After all, who would pay over $40,000 for a car and recharge equipment that will go 35 miles on a charge, then switch to gas anyway?

Why Is The Obama Administration So Against Stronger Voter Laws
Enough Already (2012-03-12)
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is blocking a new Texas law that requires voters to present suitable identification before they vote (or obtain a certificate that provides time for them to obtain such identification within a period of time). This follows the same action against a similar law in South Carolina. All of this in spite of a Supreme Court ruling in favor of a similar law in Indiana (which was used as the model for these two laws).
The argument is that the laws discriminate against minorities, who would have trouble obtaining the required identification (despite provisions to make it as cheap and easy as possible to obtain the Ids). And, Obama supporters will even say that voter fraud is not really such a big problem anyway.
We are required to show ID in order to: open a bank account, cash a check, drive a car, to rent anything, to get credit, to board a plane, purchase cigarettes, or to purchase alcohol. Why is voting less important?
Easy, those not allowed to vote can vote without being questioned, something that Obama really wants. And, if you really think vote related fraud is not important, check out Acorn, West Virginia, Chicago, New York, Louisiana, Wisconsin, etc, etc...
What kind of government do we have that thinks it is too much a burden to provide the same identification to vote that we need to cash a check?

Obama's Clean Energy Payoff

Obama's State Of The Union, 2012
Enough Already (2012-01-25)
The State of the Union message was more of the same - blame the Republicans and tax the rich. His constant call for higher taxes on the better-off so he can spend it on his favorite projects sounds a lot like "from each according to his means, to each according to his needs", which has been a slogan of socialists since before Karl Marx.
He blames the Republican-controlled House for not taking action, yet there are (as of September, 2011) 420 bills passed by the House that the Democrat-controlled has failed to consider, including budgets for the federal government. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER 1000 DAYS SINCE THE LAST FEDERAL BUDGET WAS PASSED BY THE SENATE! How can we hope to ever get control of the deficit if we have no idea of how we will spend taxpayer money?
Obama calls for more and more government. He announced the creation of several new "units" to monitor investor, banking and market activity. You can be sure that these "units" will create more rules and regulations. Don't we already have enough bureaus and regulations?
He wants to increase taxes (set a minimum) on higher income earners, which is equivalent to increasing the capital gains tax because much of the income of higher income earners is from investment. In other words, discourage investment and reduce employment. He wants to tax American companies that produce overseas and give it to those who are in the U.S. He even mentioned using that money to pay for moving expenses of those who return jobs to the U.S. Whose expenses? Something like the loan for his buddies at Solyndra.
He insists that he is helping make America energy independent, while blocking the Keystone XL pipeline on grounds that there was not enough time to review the project because Republicans forced him to make a decision (a project that has been studied for years). He will continue to push clean energy (read -- continue to waste taxpayer money supporting his friends). Want proof? See this article for some interesting relationships between Obama, his people and Solyndra.

Latest Obama Joke: Give Me Authority To Streamline The Government
Enough Already (2012-01-14)
Obama is asking for authority to streamline the federal government. Will Congress agree? Probably not, thus giving him what he really wants, which is more campaign material against the Republicans. "I tried but they wouldn't let me!"
Does he really want to reduce government? Not a chance. Everything he has done has been to the benefit of unions, and they would raise a BIG fuss.
The facts suggest the opposite:
Under Obama the federal debt has increased from $10 trillion (end fiscal year 2008) to $15.5 trillion (end fiscal year 2011) and he wants to increase the debt by more than $1 trillion this year. The debt is now above the total value of all U.S. production of goods and services. Does this sound like a person who would reduce government? Not a chance!
The number of federal employees increased from 2,772,000 persons on January 2009 to 2,840,000 on December 2011, and Obama care (if it is not repealed) would increase just the IRS by thousands of compliance investigators. Does this sound like a person who would reduce government? Not a chance!
How about passing a federal budget, which is a responsibility for both the House and the Senate. The House passed a budget for 2012 but the Senate refused to even debate a budget. It is now over two years since the Democrat controlled Senate has passed a budget. Will we see a budget this year? NEVER because it would force the Democrats to show exactly how they would face the debt problem before the 2012 elections.
So the joke is on us: A President whose only interest is in getting re-elected and a Senate that is afraid to move.

Senate Passes The Payroll Tax Problem To The Congress And Leaves On Xmas Vacation
Enough Already (2011-12-20)
Do they really all think we are stupid? The Senate passed a bill that would extend the payroll tax cut for two additional months (remember, this is workers' contributions to the social security fund and would reduce payments to social security by an equal amount). They would pay for the cut by adding a fee to government guaranteed mortgages, which would actually take years to cover the lost payments to the system. Naturally and as usual, the Democrats wanted to add a tax on higher income earners, but that failed.
So, they would extend the tax cut for two months and come back in February 2012 to start over again. The Senate passed the problem to the Congress and left town.
Congress is saying that they will not approve the Senate bill. They want a solution to the problem for at least the next year Good or them! OK everybody punted. Now the whole thing will have to be done all over again.

We are going to hear a lot about how Obama's plans are improving the economy and why Congress and the Senate should immediately give him all the money he wants to pay-off his union buddies. This will be based on the false claim that unemployment has declined from the longtime 9.0% rate to 8.6%.
The unemployment rate was never 9.0%, it was over 12.6% and it has only declined marginally, to 12.4%. Why? Notice in the table that the labor force actually declined by 315 thousand people between October and November and this is the number that is divided into unemployment to get the unemployment rate. The labor force is defined as people 16 years and over who are not in institutions (hospitals, prisons, military, etc.). This was changed during the Clinton years to exclude people who have given up trying to find a job but who still want to work. This number actually increased by 195 thousand people, which reduced the labor force be an equal amount! These people need to be added back into the data, which is shown in the bottom-half of the table. Even then, the labor force still declined by 120 thousand people in November! I find it difficult to believe that 120 thousand more people are in prison or in the military than turned 16 in November. Anyway ..
The real unemployment rate was 12.6% and is now just over 12.4%, not much of a decline. If we go back to 2008 when the labor force was 154.656 thousand people and assume that it continued to grow at even a low 2%/year we should have a total labor force of 164,122 thousand people -- somewhere, we seem to have lost about a million people -- add these people back in and the real unemployment is over 14%!
Remember this when Obama and his people start the PR campaign.

Obama's Can't Wait For Congress Jobs Plan Is A Campaign Scam
Enough Already (2011-11-14)
Obama can't get his jobs plan through the Democrat controlled Senate, so he is blaming the Congress for his failures and is using Executive Orders to avoid the scrutiny and discussion his plan should face. He conveniently ignores the fact that the Senate has failed to act on a pile of bills from the Congress and that it has not passed a federal budget in three years (which it is required by law to do). He and the Senate Democrats assume that we are ignorant about what is happening, so they continue to use our tax money for their own political purposes. This is just the latest in a series of taxpayer funded 'programs' aimed at helping Obama get re-elected. What do we have so far..
Force banks to refinance government backed mortgages for homeowners who are in trouble (and who are current on their payments and who meet some strict standards). The facts are that few will qualify, that the savings to homeowners will be minimal, total loan costs will increase, and that this would potentially transfer billions in losses to the government without addressing the real housing problem.
Beginning 2012, lower interest rates on student loans, limit payments to 10% of income and forgive the loans after 20 years (currently is 15% and 25 years and was to begin in 2014 -- but 2012 is an election year!). Better yet, the forgiveness period would be dropped to 10 yeas for those who go into the public sector (gift to public sector unions)! The interest rate would be reduced by about one-half percent, so on the average loan of $19,000 a student would save $95/year or about $8 per month. Outstanding federal student loans currently total $605 billion (private $168 billion) so the plan's new interest rate will shift $3 billion from students to taxpayers. The cost of the change in the forgiveness period is difficult to calculate without a lot of data. But, the 5 years would be equal to about s 20% loss, so the minimum on 600 billion would be around $120 billion, and in reality much, much higher. Who pays? We pay!
$1 billion in grants to medical groups to increase employment in the health sector (must do so in the next 6 months). This sector is one of the few that has grown employment over the past few years and is expected to show significant grow in the future. Will it change anything? Not a chance. Organizations currently training workers will take the money, people who would have entered to system anyway will show up as new employees, and Obama gets to claim his plan had an immediate impact. Give me a break, $1 billion in smoke and mirrors so Obama can claim success.
More later as the lunacy continues.
